Episode 323 – Let’s Go Deep with State of Decay 2

Now that FastFret and SeanGeek are both playing hours of the multiplatform hit State of Decay 2, we have come upon various tips and tricks, strategies, best practices, and overall understanding of how best to beat the game (over and over again). This game has replayability written all over it. We cover lots of ground, so here is the breakdown of this episode and the stuff we covered: (2:08) Pull up your radio and call in for assistance in various capacities, primarily with Prestige Points. How do you get them and what are they good for? And what other things can you call in? (7:31) Red Talon are a faction within the game series, and in this iteration, you can play as Red Talon members in the Daybreak mode. Gaining Prestige Points spills over in the Campaign portion of the game, which allows recruiting Red Talon into your Community. We explain how. (8:25) Outposts are extensions of your Base and can provide much needed assistance, in more ways than are immediately apparent. Learn how we use Outposts in the game to maximize resource gathering, making sure your base is well protected, and how having a floating outpost makes everything better. (10:38) Your Base has a number of spots that yield different results to your Community. What are the best Facilities your Base needs? (12:00) How do Skills in the game work and what happens when they level? (13:39) Your Base is set up with some Facilities, but did you know you can Modify each of them? (14:34) Finishing the Game is not the end. What happens when you beat State of Decay 2 and why would you play again? (16:35) Special Skills really add a layer to the game. What do they do? (21:32) What makes the game the most unique is the Cooperative Multiplayer, which is unique to the game. We have never seen the like before. What are the advantages? (24:15) Daybreak is a whole other section of the game, often referred to as Horde Mode. We go into detail on this game mode. (25:26) There are numerous little touches spread out through the game. These signatures tell other stories in this world and we share a couple of them. (29:37) Vehicle Upgrades change your vehicle from a regular car to a souped up zombie killing machine. We go into detail on upgrades. (30:42) The Enclaves on the map can help you in various ways. As long as you help them, they can help you. (32:08) Always bring another member of your Community with you on missions. It doubles your carrying capacity. We explain how to make the best use of bringing a companion on missions. (34:39) Choosing a Leader sets up a variety of missions in the game. Which should you choose? Remember that each leader type gets their own story. Which of the four types will you play? (37:40) Making Ammo can help your Community last a long time. You might run out of ammo, but you can make more with the right Facilities and Mods. (39:06) Each Leader type gets you different things in the game. Here is a quick runthrough of what each gets you. (39:50) As easy as the game is to get into, there is a level of complexity that helps in the replayability. You can get as deep as you want, mastering all of the details to play the hardest levels of the game, or you can jump in yours or someone else’s game and just kill zombies. This game caters to all. (42:02) We discussed the strongest and most valuable items in the game to help you survive, (45:02) including what items to have in your backpack at all times (45:26) and what stuff should be sold. (48:28) We also discuss Scent Blocker, trunk space vs seating in vehicles, the Independence Pack, (50:48) and the Independence Pack Vehicles. #stateofdecay2 #xbox #crossplatform #pcgaming Website: www.seanmcginity.ca Meet The Geeks: http://mtgcomic.thecomicseries.com/ @seangeekpodcast on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook @toddgeek on Twitter @fastfretfingers on Instagram @ToddGeeks Tech Talk on Facebook @the_real_meet_the_geeks on Instagram @podioanthq @mbpodfest

Hi, I am Sean "SeanGeek" McGinity. And I am a geek. For me, the definition of the word geek comes from liking something so much, that I deep dive into it. Not just consuming it... but becoming it. I "geek out". Everything started with comics. I read them and studied them with a fine eye, and then started making my own. Since then, I have "geeked out" on movies (Star Wars The Evil WIthin, Hurt), music writing, recording, and performing (The Classic Embers and Dome), writing (the Symka comic and the upcoming Intuitives novel), and now... this Podcast.

Todd McGinity

Hey guys, SeanGeek here. Just to be clear, this is me geeking out on Todd "FastFretFingers" McGinity here. Todd is the GOAT. My brother is an established musician, mastering the Fretboard with a blistering discipline. If there was a guitar style, tone, pitch... Todd would find a way to replicate it. From his early days mastering Van Halen and Rush, his musical palate has expanded with forays into classical and flamenco, hard rock, blues and pop. From live performances to learning the recording process, when it comes to music, he has done it all.
