Episode 610

Dolly Parton and ZZ Top: A Tribute with Lots of Laughs

Published on: 7th September, 2026

Studio tour & intro chaos — The usual chaotic cold open, with Sean showing off pieces of his new backdrop — including a superhero helmet you'll have to see to believe.

Remembering Dolly Parton and Frank Beard — The crew pays tribute to two icons lost in the same week, trading Dolly memories and making the case that ZZ Top's Frank Beard deserves way more respect as a drummer than he usually gets. Naturally, it turns into a round of Pass or Go — which ZZ Top deep cut will the guys spin, and will it get a Pass or a Go?

Old house stories — Todd digs up a couple of genuinely wild stories from childhood homes, including one urban legend that'll make you think twice about home renovations.

Gym talk & injury recovery — Todd heads back to the gym for the first time in a while, and Sean makes his pitch for DDP Yoga as the wrestling world's not-so-secret recovery weapon. How'd Todd's first session go, and is Sean actually sold on DDP? You'll have to listen.

Setting up the big topic — The episode wraps with the crew spinning their "Wheel of Topics" and landing on something that ends up needing its own episode entirely...

Hi, I am Sean "SeanGeek" McGinity. And I am a geek. For me, the definition of the word geek comes from liking something so much, that I deep dive into it. Not just consuming it... but becoming it. I "geek out". Everything started with comics. I read them and studied them with a fine eye, and then started making my own. Since then, I have "geeked out" on movies (Star Wars The Evil WIthin, Hurt), music writing, recording, and performing (The Classic Embers and Dome), writing (the Symka comic and the upcoming Intuitives novel), and now... this Podcast.

Hey guys, SeanGeek here. Just to be clear, this is me geeking out on Todd "FastFretFingers" McGinity here. Todd is the GOAT. My brother is an established musician, mastering the Fretboard with a blistering discipline. If there was a guitar style, tone, pitch... Todd would find a way to replicate it. From his early days mastering Van Halen and Rush, his musical palate has expanded with forays into classical and flamenco, hard rock, blues and pop. From live performances to learning the recording process, when it comes to music, he has done it all.
